Jordan Gilchrist is an artist from Chicago, who now lives in the Santurce area of San Juan, PR. He has a bachelor degree from the art and design department of Columbia College Chicago. His art reflects Hip Hop culture, he often combines spray paint, and markers, with brushes and academic painting techniques. Most of his works are figurative or portraits, and will often incorporate the bright tropical colors and foliage of the Carribean.

1997, Graduated with a bachelors degree from the Art and Design Department of Columbia College Chicago
1998, Beat Parlor, Chicago. Jordan did mural work inside this record store / cultural icon of the Wicker Park hip hop and house music scene.
2001, Slick’s Lounge - Chicago, Jordan was commissioned by multiple liquor companies to paint murals on the wall in front of this late night club. He also helped with the pre-opening design of the bar, and spent 4 years working as a bartender and head manager (and was a special guest DJ on occasion).
2007 - Present, The Jade Monkey, Madison, Wi. This restaurant and bar group has repeatedly hired Jordan to do murals in several of their locations.

2008-2014, bartender at The Publican, a James Beard Award winning restaurant in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago.
2009, The Flat Iron (formerly know as The Note) - Wicker Park, Chicago. Jordan painted murals inside this bar, and also in it’s sister bar, Nick’s On Wilson.
2017, Hielo AIR - San Juan, PR. For a month I lived and painted in this Artist In Residence space. The finished project was displayed at Espacio Minerva, an arts and community space in Santurce.

2017, The Poetry Foundation, downtown Chicago, I was one of the painters working on a mural in the main entrance hall by Chicago graffiti legend ‘Slang.’
